USCIS Announces New $1,000 Parole Fee — Effective October 16, 2025

On October 16, 2025, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) will officially implement a new $1,000 parole fee for individuals who are physically present in the United States and are requesting parole or re-parole. This new fee is required under the H.R. 1 Reconciliation Bill and is subject to future adjustments for inflation.

When the Fee Applies

The $1,000 parole fee will be collected only after USCIS determines that your case is ready for approval. Applicants should not include this fee when filing Form I-131 (Application for Travel Document). Once USCIS reviews and determines your eligibility, they will:
- Notify you that your parole or re-parole can be approved,
- Provide payment instructions, and
- Set a specific deadline for payment.

If you do not pay the fee by the deadline, USCIS will not grant or renew your parole.

Who Is Affected

- Individuals applying for new parole inside the U.S.
- Individuals applying for re-parole to extend their existing status.
- Certain humanitarian categories may qualify for fee exceptions. Details will be included in the official Federal Register notice.

What Applicants Should Do Now

- Plan ahead for this additional $1,000 cost when applying for parole or re-parole.
- Make sure your contact information with USCIS is current, so you don’t miss their notification.
- Keep an eye on future USCIS updates for details about fee exceptions.
- If you are unsure about how this may impact your case, speak to an immigration attorney as soon as possible.
